Purses with a conscience
The handbag industry is on a recycling roll. Passchal
Products, a 2-year-old company based in Richmond, makes
handbags from used truck and tractor inner tubes --- before
they hit landfills. Once the rubber is cleaned in an
environmentally friendly process, partners Ken Kobrick and
Angela Green turn them into stylish structured handbags,
including totes and shoulder bags. Colors range from jet
black to gray, and the bags are trimmed with colorful
leathers. Each is fully lined, with an inside zipper or open
pockets, plus an interior light system so you'll never hunt
for your keys in the dark again. Prices range from $125 to
$195. The bag shown is $180. Order online at
www.passchal.com.
